In 2021, Chinas ceramic exports to RCEP member states accounted for as high as 32.4%, showing a significant increase. Against this background, it becomes particularly important to understand the technical trade measures of the target countries. So, when exporting building and sanitary ceramic products, which regulatory agencies, technical regulations and standards should we pay attention to? How to ensure that products meet the certification requirements of the importing country? Next, lets take a detailed look at the relevant regulations and procedures for ceramic exports to Malaysia.
In Malaysia, the quality and safety supervision of building and sanitary ceramic products is the responsibility of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (referred to as MITI), especially its Trade and Cooperation Departmentimport and exportManagement Office. At the same time, the standard and certification work is the responsibility of the Standards Department under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, to ensure product quality and safety and help it enter the international market.
Malaysias MITI Act 520 (2011 Amendment) stipulates that all imported building and sanitary ceramic products must comply with the requirements of the Malaysian Standard (MS), and a conformity assessment certificate issued by a designated certification body is required for customs clearance in Malaysia. This requirement ensures that imported products meet Malaysian standards.
In order to obtain the necessary product certification, enterprises need to submit product inspection reports to testing institutions recognized by the Malaysian Standards Department. There are two certification methods: one is PC certification, which requires the submission of a series of materials and a one - year - valid certification certificate will be issued after passing; the other is to submit a complete type test report, and its certification certificate is valid for half a year. Currently, the Malaysian Standards Department has recognized three certification bodies for such certifications.
When exporting building and sanitary ceramic products to Malaysia, enterprises need to prepare and submit inspection reports that meet the requirements in advance to ensure the smooth progress of the certification process. At the same time, given the differences in some standards between Malaysia and China, such as product appearance quality, water absorption test methods, etc., enterprises should keep informed and adapt to these standards in a timely manner to improve product competitiveness.
Finally, during the export process, enterprises also need to comply with the relevant regulations of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Malaysias Act 520 to ensure that all exported products meet the import standards and regulatory requirements of Malaysia.
