The latest revision of the RoHS Directive in the EU: An exemption for mercury has been added under specific equipment categories
The EU made the latest revision to the RoHS Directive on July 11, 2023, adding a mercury exemption for the category of electrical and electronic equipment of industrial monitoring and control instruments. This exemption is due to the fact that it is scientifically or technically infeasible to eliminate or substitute mercury in this specific application. The validity period of this exemption is limited until the end of 2025. This revised directive will come into force on July 31, 2023, and each member state should adopt and publish it by January 31, 2024.
